Today’s RealTrending podcast features Bobby Bryant, CEO and co-founder of back, a real estate brokerage and technology company that offers a flexible model and an artificial intelligence assistant. Doss is a Starting Google company and recently received funding from Amazonas well.

Here’s a little preview of today’s interview with Bryant. The transcript below has been lightly edited for length and clarity:

Tracey Velt: Tell me how Doss got started, why it’s a tech company, and what makes your model unique?

Bobby Bryant: We looked at the data. What is happening and how can we fix these issues? That’s what kickstarted Doss as a tech company, it’s a real estate tech company. We wanted to create a better way to search and deliver a solution to centralize, democratize, and humanize housing data.

We wanted to go beyond the box you see on the most popular search sites, and you see a search. And then it just evolved into solving real estate brokerage problems. This means not just taking an agent-centric approach, which most brokers do, but really embracing it from the aspect of an agent- and consumer-centric model.

In terms of a flexible model, how to provide more options and meet individual agent needs, we didn’t want a one-size-fits-all compensation model.

Tracey Velt: You mentioned at the beginning that you started out as a real estate technology company. You talked about your house search and came back through Google and Amazon. So what does this mean?

Bobby Bryant: I believe there is a difference between a technology company and a technology-driven company. A technology-driven company uses third-party service providers. In fact, we build our own technology.

We have nearly twenty engineers and developers in our team. We want to customize our own solutions from our research to our CRM. We got in touch with Google, and they were very interested in what we were building and now their developers and engineers are working closely with us to develop our digital assistant and our technology.

RealTrending features the brightest minds in real estate. Twice a month, brokerage leaders, top agents, team leaders and industry experts share their secrets to success, trends and lessons learned in this ever-changing industry. Hosted by Tracey Velt and produced by Elissa Branch.
